Role Overview:

Alameda Health System is hiring! The Associate Chief Nursing Officer of the North Services Areabuilds a professional environment though planning, organizing, directing, evaluating and administering the operations, strategy, and programs for services within the Alameda Health System North Service Area.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

  • Acts as a patient/family/community associate and advocates health promotion practices and education.
  • Implements health care programs and services to restore health and prevent illness.
  • Assures the implementation and accurate interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Effectively manages and monitors the use of products, equipment and services for patient care.
  • Ensures the appropriate use and integration of patient care technology.
  • Establishes standards and policies regarding the provision of patient care.
  • Integrates clinical and non-clinical practice within service line area to promote standardization.
  • Interprets and implements plans to assess the environmental issues that impact patient care.
  • Oversees the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of systems to monitor and improve patient care outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Promotes a continuum of care for patients, family and the community. Acts as a patient/family/community associate and advocates health promotion practices and education.
  • Provides an environment for continuous quality improvement, integrates the continuous quality improvement process within all service within the North Service Area.
  • Provides leadership in the redesign of health care delivery systems. Establishes standards and policies regarding the provision of patient care. Interprets and implements plans to assess the environmental issues that impact patient care. Defines and develops health care programs and services to restore health and prevent illness..Ensures the appropriate use and integration of patient care technology.
  • Reduces risks to the patient or organization through effective management strategies.
  • Understands and manages regulatory and licensure requirements and ensures compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and standards.
  • Utilizes personnel in an appropriate and cost-effective manner in the provision of health care services.
  • Develops, maintains and manages facility/area budgets and costs through the responsible use of planning and control systems which includes taking into consideration forecast levels of operations, cost effective utilization of resources and realistic financial variances; directs the preparation of budgets and fund allocations based on cost studies; consults with department heads in the formulation of annual and/or long-term plans, goals and objectives for submission to the governing authority.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with the medical and professional staff of AHS Facilities/areas by collaborating on administrative activities and policy matters of mutual concern; works in partnership with the medical staff to accomplish the mission of AHS and its freestanding and facility-based clinics.
  • Maintains the facility's/areas physical resources by planning, maintaining and providing necessary equipment and safe, secure, clean facilities for consumers of health care services; recommends improvement of facility-based and freestanding health centers and facilities, including construction or renovation of structures and purchase of new equipment; responsible for strategic, program, facility, financial and operational planning.
  • Provides effective leadership and people management to ensure a competent and productive labor force; selects, assigns, directs and evaluates the performance of subordinate administrative staff and department heads; supervises, manages and instructs managers of clinical and non-medical sections; selects, trains and supervises subordinate Clinic and Facility Directors; recruits and interviews professional staff for ambulatory clinics and reviews/manages staffing for professional services at ambulatory sites; provides annual reviews of direct reports and physician professional staff.
  • Collaborates with physician leaders in a dyad partnership model for key decisions related to the site/area.
  • Leads initiatives with a focus on health equity, diversity, and inclusion and promotes a culture of patient-centered care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Required Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Master’s degree in Nursing or health care related field.

Required Experience: Seven years of progressively responsible experience in nursing management and/or administration.

Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
